About the penguin

A small site with a simple deal: free tools that work instantly, ask for nothing, and let you get on with your day.

What this is

Penguin Wearing a Hat is a shelf of free online tools โ€” calculators, generators, converters, and small utilities that do one job, do it instantly, and ask for nothing in return. No accounts, no sign-ups, no uploads. Every tool runs in your browser, so whatever you type never leaves your device. The shelf currently holds 40 tools, and it grows in batches.

The flagship

The shelf's showpiece is the Dice Atelier โ€” a 3D dice roller with twenty themed tables, from a neon ronin bar to a dragon's hoard, built for game night. The classic dice roller is still here too, for when you just need a number fast.

Why a penguin

Because every other tool site looks like a tax form. Ours has a penguin in a hat โ€” dressed for an occasion it was never invited to, doing the thing anyway. That's the whole philosophy, and it's on the homepage: do the thing and move on.

How it's run

The site is independent and maintained by a very small crew โ€” one human and one extremely busy assistant. Google AdSense ads keep the tools free; that's the entire business model. New tools are chosen by usefulness and by request โ€” if there's a tool you wish existed, tell us.
