Frequently asked questions
How do I generate a color palette for my website?
Hit shuffle above until you find five colors you like, then click each swatch to copy its hex code. Drop those hex codes into your CSS or design tool's color settings. A five-color palette usually covers a background, a primary brand color, an accent, and two supporting tones โ plenty for most sites.
What makes a color palette harmonious?
Harmonious palettes are built from the geometry of the color wheel. Analogous palettes use neighboring hues for a calm, cohesive feel; complementary palettes pair opposites for energy; triadic palettes spread three hues evenly for balance; monochrome palettes vary one hue from dark to light. This generator picks one of those harmonies each shuffle, then varies the shades.
How do I copy a hex code from the palette?
Just click (or tap) any swatch and its hex code is copied to your clipboard โ a small toast confirms it. Keyboard users can Tab to a swatch and press Enter. The hex code is in the standard #RRGGBB format, ready to paste into CSS, Figma, Canva, or any design software.
How many colors should a palette have?
Five is the sweet spot for most projects: enough for variety (background, text, primary, secondary, accent) without turning into a rainbow. If you need fewer, just pick your favorite two or three swatches from a generated palette โ the harmonies hold up at any subset.
