Decision Wheel
Where to eat, who goes first, which movie β some choices don't deserve twenty minutes of debate. Load the wheel, spin it, done.
How to use
- List your options. Type one choice per line β restaurants, names, activities, anything. The wheel redraws live as you edit.
- Spin. Hit the button and watch it go. The wheel slows down naturally and lands on one segment.
- Accept the verdict. The winner shows up big below the wheel. Pro tip: if you feel disappointed by the result, you already knew what you wanted β the wheel just told you.
- Spin again or shuffle. Respin for a fresh pick, or shuffle the segment order to mix things up.
Frequently asked questions
Is the decision wheel truly random?
Yes β the winning segment is chosen with your browser's cryptographic random number generator (crypto.getRandomValues), the same source operating systems use for encryption keys, not the weaker Math.random(). Every option has exactly the same chance on every spin, regardless of segment size or color.
How many options can I put on the wheel?
Up to 12, which keeps every label readable on the wheel. Two options works great for yes/no decisions; twelve handles a full restaurant shortlist. If you paste more than 12 lines, the first 12 are used and you'll get a heads-up.
Can I use the decision wheel for giveaways or raffles?
Absolutely β paste the entrants one per line and spin. It's fair (uniform random selection) and the whole thing happens visibly on screen, which makes it fun to share over a video call. For a formal audited draw you'd want a third-party witness, but for classroom picks, giveaways, and team draws it's perfect.
Does the wheel remember my options?
No β everything lives on the page while it's open and vanishes when you leave. Nothing is uploaded or stored anywhere, so your options stay private. If you reuse the same list often, keep it in a note and paste it in.
